Froggy in the Throat.....
Rhett is getting sick.
My little mommy radar beepers are going off like crazy tonight.
All day long he has been attached to me like a piece of Velcro. Every time I would put him down he would frantically drop in front of me and lay there like a limp noodle, so I couldn't walk away from him. He would wrap his little chubby hands around my ankles as tight as he could, causing his knuckles to go white.
Then he would look up at me and whine.
Everytime I tried to sneak out of the room he would turn around and look at me and start crying. His short little legs would toddle at lightning speed towards me, and he would wrap around my legs, give me the saddest eyes you have ever seen, and say "Up Ommy.....Peeeeseeee!!" If I told him no, his beautiful big blue eyes would well up with giant tears. How can I not pick him up after that.
His skin is modeled, he has black circles around his eyes, and I think the most disturbing part is that his chest, right below his sternum it's sinking in ever so slightly....(okay maybe a little more than slightly)......everytime he breathes.
He took a 2 hr nap today, and then was back to sleep by 7:15 tonight. NOT normal for my little night owl. Generally he is up and causing mayhem until 10:30 at night.
His stoma around his G-tube site is bright red again, and he doesn't want anyone to get near it. Funny how the first sign of an illness for him is extra drainage and a red stoma.
Oh, and his binky has been in his mouth all day long.
It's funny how when you have a child like Rhett, that you panic at the thought of him being sick. He has thrown so many curve balls at us in the past that just the smallest sniffle makes me worry.
But I will take all of the sleepless nights, the worry, the frustration, all of the hard stuff that comes from raising a child who is medically fragile. Because all of the smiles, hugs, and kisses that I get totally outweigh the hard times. We are so lucky that he is still here to make us smile.

Okay Rhett, Carson and I want you to get to feeling better real soon okay?
Pam, I'm sorry that your going through this. I know how clingy Carson can be and you can't get anything done because your tending to the sick one.
Sending prayers that he feels better soon.
I hope they get better soon!
I put a little snippit about your special needs giveaways on the kidz blog. I hope it gets some people over here!

NOT GOOD. If this is still going on today, call doctor. As you know, those are signs of cyanosis (excess CO2 retention, not good). Especially the "work of breathing" is telling. Call doctor.
Been through this w/Nik. Doesn't mean there's a crisis but it's not good b/c his body won't ahve the energy to fight off whatever is going on.
Poor Rhett. Hope he feels better soon. give him hugs from me and Eian who I think looks like Rhett
Pam, I just blogged about the very same thing - when you have a medically fragile child, the line between being the panicked mom and the mom who waits just a little too long to bring them in is such a fine line to walk.
There's always that nagging feeling - is it "just" a cold, or is it something sinister?
I hope he is feeling better soon - even feeling yucky, he is so adorable, sitting there with his paci :)
Poor Rhett! I hope he feels better soon!
I hope he gets better FAST. That's exactly what landed Nathan in the hospital this week with pneumonia.
Nathan's back on oxygen again. I can't wait for SUMMER to come and the cruddies to GO AWAY!
Rhett, you little cutie, I hope you feel better soon! Don't make us all worried. <3
Poor little guy!:( Sending you guys lots of love and prayers -- hope he gets better really soon, Pam!
Hugs,
~Michelle
Pam,
You need to really consider taking Rhett into a Doctor or ER ASAP. This could be a sign of several things that need to be checked out right away.
Keep us posted!
Love,
Sheila
